As you all know, whenever we make it out to Oregon as a family we stock up on fresh seafood! Last time we headed out there we went beyond our usual clams and oysters and snagged some fish filets.
Some that we grabbed were some DELICIOUS albacore white tuna. We both love tuna (especially in sushi) and the price was one we couldn’t resist.
With my wife being pregnant, we’ve heard all about how great fish in small amounts are great for baby and mama. So we decided to try something new and bake up this tuna to put on pasta.
My wife discovered that its great in tuna salad for a sandwich as well – it gave her sandwich a unique savory flavor she couldn’t get enough of.
Its also super easy! You marinate it for a bit, then bake and that’s it!

Ingredients
- 2 lbs fresh white albacore tuna
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon dried ginger
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger until combined. Seal the tuna and marinade in a container and place in the refrigerator for half an hour.
- Remove the tuna from the bag and cut into 2″ chunks. Place back in marinade and put back in the refrigerator for another half an hour.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with tinfoil.
- Place chunks of tuna onto the baking sheet. Loosely cover the pan with another piece of tinfoil, closing completely. Place in the oven and bake for 10-20 minutes, checking often for desired doneness.*
- Remove pan from oven. Allow fish to cool slightly, then flake apart. Use as desired.
Notes
*We had to cook ours through completely because my wife is pregnant. FDA guidelines recommend cooking fish to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit or until the meat is opaque and flakes with a fork.
